Its all good news, too.

This particular adoption curve could get a little steeper in short order for a number of reasons, mostly relating to how straightforward a conversion really is. Especially if some of the garages currently repairing cars would see conversions as supplemental income and bite off doing one or two a year with the nice cars with blown engines they all see once in a while that they can have for almost nothing. A good kit or two would stimulate that, and also help develop the service infrastructure we need.

What we are up to is actually embarrassingly easy compared to most new technologies. In less than two years the batteries gone from unobtainium to factory US distribution. The appearance in the last two years of great little bits from gas gauges to controllers is rather astonishing.

Compared to amateur rocketry or ham radio, an EV conversion is a piece of cake. I'm astonished at how many of these cars are competently assembled by people with no background in the automotive business or hobby. They are just much easier to build than, say, a regular ICE motor swap or heavy restomodifications on an antique car. I'm guessing at least half the work on the average conversion is just getting the car part of right straightened out.

I've waited long enough. My last ICE hot rod is washed, photographed and going on ebay tonight. Then the garage its been sleeping in for a decade gets swept out, and the pile of Moonray parts I've been accumulating for two years will get laid out on the floor for the first time. I have a neighbor and a buddy that want to work on it with me. Maybe a nephew of mine who's into robotics...

See you in September.Tom Alvaryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13138074813335115689noreply@blogger.com
